A carrier signal is amplitude modulated by a message signal and transmitted through an antenna. What will be the bandwidth of the modulated signal?
  1. (A)8 GHz
  2. (B)2.01 GHz
  3. (C)50 MHz✓ Correct
  4. (D)1987.5 MHz

Answer: (C)

Solution

For amplitude modulation, the bandwidth is twice the frequency of the message signal.

Message signal angular frequency: rad/s

Message signal frequency: Hz = 25 MHz

Bandwidth = MHz = 50 MHz
