List-I contains four conducting loops lying in the XY plane, as shown in the figures. The loops are rotating about Z axis passing through the point 0 with time period T in clockwise direction. The region contains a uniform magnetic field B in the +z direction. List-II contains the qualitative variation of the induced current for each of these loops. Choose the option which describes the correct match between the entries in List-I to those in List-II.
  1. (A)P→5, Q→4, R→1, S→3
  2. (B)P→3, Q→2, R→5, S→4
  3. (C)P→3, Q→2, R→1, S→4✓ Correct
  4. (D)P→5, Q→1, R→2, S→3

Answer: (C)

Solution

For each loop, the induced current depends on the rate of change of magnetic flux as it rotates.

The graph characteristics depend on:
  • Starting time: (initial angle with field)
  • Constant period: (angular extent of loop)

(P) Full semicircle: , → (3)

(Q) 60° sector starting at 0°: , → (2)

(R) 60° sector starting at 0°: , → (1)

(S) Symmetric loop: Total emf remains zero due to symmetry → (4)

Therefore: P→3, Q→2, R→1, S→4
