Thiamine is the sulphur containing water soluble vitamin whose deficiency causes beri-beri and whose pyrophosphate is the coenzyme for decarboxylation of pyruvate; it is vitamin ${\mathrm{B}}_1$. Pyridoxine is the pyridine based vitamin whose phosphate is the coenzyme for transamination of amino acids; it is vitamin ${\mathrm{B}}_6$. Thiamine and pyridoxine are vitamin ${\mathrm{B}}_1$ and vitamin ${\mathrm{B}}_6$ respectively.
