Solution

On a level curved road friction alone supplies the centripetal force, and at the maximum speed it reaches

, so

μ m g = \frac{m v ^{2}}{r}

and

v_{m a x} = μ r g

. With

μ = 0.34

r = 50

m and

g = 10

^{- 2}

v_{m a x} = 170

. The maximum speed is about

m s

^{- 1}
