Account for the following observations:
i) Silver chloride dissolves in aqueous methylamine solution.
ii) Tertiary amines do not undergo acylation.
iii) Aniline reacts readily with bromine to give 2,4,6-tribromoaniline.

Solution
(i) Methylamine is a good ligand:
— the complex is water-soluble.
(ii) Acylation replaces an N–H hydrogen by acyl; RN has no N–H, so no stable acylated product forms.
(iii) The –NH lone pair floods the ring at o/p; even bromine water substitutes all three positions at once → white 2,4,6-tribromoaniline.
