As the plane flies horizontally, its horizontal wings (span

) cut the vertical component of Earth's field, giving a motional emf

.
The vertical component is

B_{V} = B_{H} tan δ = (4 \times 1 0^{- 4}) tan 3 0^{\circ} = \frac{4 \times 1 0 ^{- 4}}{3} T .

Therefore

ε = B_{V} l v = \frac{4 \times 1 0 ^{- 4}}{3} \times 30 \times 450.

ε \approx 3.12 V
