Solution

Follow the rails: beyond each outer capacitor the top and bottom conductors both run into the common right-hand terminal, so the two central capacitors are connected between the same pair of nodes and carry no charge. Only the two outer capacitors remain, each joining the left terminal to the right terminal, so they are in parallel. The equivalent capacitance is

C + C = 2 C
