Equivalent resistance of the following network is ______ .

Answer: 1

Solution

The network reduces as follows: the resistor bridging the two middle nodes connects two points that are at the same potential, so no current flows through it and it can be removed without affecting the equivalent resistance.

What remains are three paths in parallel between the terminals: a direct branch, a second direct branch, and a third path formed by two resistors in series (, since a further pair of resistors combine in parallel to along that path).

Three equal resistors in parallel give
