Solution

The velocity components are

v_{x} = \frac{d x}{d t} = 24 m/s

(constant) and

v_{y} = \frac{d y}{d t} = 43.6 - 9.8 t

. At

t = 2 s

v_{y} = 43.6 - 19.6 = 24 m/s

. The inclination to the horizontal follows from

tan θ = \frac{v _{y}}{v _{x}} = \frac{24}{24} = 1

. The projectile makes an angle of

4 5^{\circ}

with the horizontal.
