Solution

A body let fall from height

h

reaches the ground in a time

T

fixed by

h = \frac{1}{2} g T^{2}

. After only one-third of that time it has dropped

\frac{1}{2} g (\frac{T}{3})^{2} = \frac{h}{9}

from the top, so measured from the ground it is still at a height

h - \frac{h}{9} = \frac{8 h}{9}
