In the given circuit diagram, the currents, I1=−0.3A,I4=0.8A and I5=0.4A, are flowing as shown. The currents I2,I3 and I6, respectively are:
(A)1.1A,−0.4A,0.4A
(B)1.1A,0.4A,0.4A✓ Correct
(C)0.4A,1.1A,0.4A
(D)−0.4A,0.4A,1.1A
Answer: (B)
Solution
Apply Kirchhoff's current law junction by junction. Where I3,I4,I5 meet, I3+I5=I4 gives I3=0.8−0.4=0.4 A. Where I1,I2,I4 meet, I1+I2=I4 gives I2=0.8−(−0.3)=1.1 A. At the remaining junction, I3+I6=I1+I2 gives I6=1.1+(−0.3)−0.4=0.4 A. So I2=1.1 A, I3=0.4 A and I6=0.4 A.
