Solution

This is an oxymercuration-demercuration reaction. The reagents Hg(OAc)₂ in H₂O/THF followed by NaBH₄ lead to Markovnikov addition of water without carbocation rearrangement. The alkene reacts to give the more substituted alcohol. In this case, the product is the secondary alcohol shown in option (A).
