Which of the following alcohols will not undergo oxidation?

Solution

A tertiary alcohol has no H on the carbinol carbon, so ordinary oxidation cannot remove H to form C=O.
2-Methylbutan-2-ol is 3° → not oxidised; the others (1°/2°) give aldehyde/ketone.
