Define mole fraction of a substance in a solution.

Answer: The ratio of the number of moles of that component to the total number of moles of all components of the solution.

Solution

Mole fraction of a component is the ratio of the number of moles of that component to the total number of moles of all the components present in the solution:

x_{A} = \frac{n _{A}}{n _{A} + n _{B} + \dots}
