Write the underlying principle of a moving coil galvanometer.

Answer: A current-carrying coil placed in a magnetic field experiences a torque.

Solution

When current flows through the coil suspended in the radial magnetic field, it behaves as a magnetic dipole and experiences a deflecting torque . The coil rotates until this is balanced by the restoring torque of the suspension, and the deflection is proportional to the current.
