Define 'electric line of force' and give its two important properties.
Solution
An electric line of force is an imaginary curve drawn such that the tangent to it at any point gives the direction of the electric field at that point. Two important properties: (i) field lines start from positive charges and end on negative charges and are continuous (never broken); (ii) no two field lines ever intersect, since the field cannot have two directions at a point. (The closeness of the lines indicates the strength of the field.)
