JEE Main 2027: Old Photo on Aadhaar? What the NTA Bulletin Says

Dhirendra· 2 November 2026· 2 min read

Many students filled the JEE Main 2027 form and only then noticed their Aadhaar carries a photo from years ago. Should you update Aadhaar now, or leave it alone? Here is what the official JEE (Main) 2027 Information Bulletin actually says.

1. NTA itself asks you to update Aadhaar

The bulletin says it twice:

"Candidates are advised to update their details on Aadhaar Card with their recent Photograph, Name, Date of Birth… for verification at the Examination Centre."

So updating is not a risk. It is the official advice. Book a slot at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra this week; a photo cannot be changed online.

2. The form takes two photos, not one

While filling the form you gave NTA:

  • a live photo from the webcam, and
  • a recent scanned passport-size photo that you uploaded.

On exam day you must carry 2 extra passport photos "same as uploaded on the Online Application Form". These are pasted on the admit card and the attendance sheet. The invigilator matches your face mainly against this uploaded photo.

3. Check your Confirmation Page today

Admit cards for Session 1 come out only on 13 January 2027. Open your Confirmation Page and see which photo is printed.

  • Your recent uploaded photo: you are fine. Just update Aadhaar so your ID matches your face.
  • The old Aadhaar photo: use the correction window below.

4. Correction window: 27–29 November 2026, one time only

  • Which fields can be edited is announced only when the window opens.
  • After it closes, no change is accepted.
  • NTA does not act on corrections sent by email, post or WhatsApp.

If your Aadhaar update finishes before 27 November, refresh Aadhaar in DigiLocker so the latest photo is available if the window allows a re-fetch.

5. What to carry on exam day

  • Printed admit card with the self-declaration filled in
  • 2 passport photos, same as the one uploaded
  • Any one original photo ID. Aadhaar card or e-Aadhaar with photograph is accepted. Carry the updated one.

6. If the admit card shows a wrong photo

Call the NTA helpline at once (10 am to 5 pm). You will still sit the exam with the downloaded admit card; NTA corrects its record later.

Quick checklist

  1. Check the photo on your Confirmation Page.
  2. Update Aadhaar now.
  3. Refresh Aadhaar in DigiLocker once the update is done.
  4. Use the 27–29 November correction window if needed.
  5. Download the admit card on 13 January and check the photo.
  6. Carry the updated Aadhaar and 2 matching passport photos.
